Teaching
In addition to being a fine performer, Eve loves passing on her skills and knowledge to others whenever she can, whether it's through private lessons, workshops, classes, music camps, festivals, or conferences. She brings a wealth of organizing, teaching and facilitation experience to any music event, and knows how to get participants involved and excited about the topic at hand.
Eve has one of the most important qualities any teacher should have: a strong belief that everyone can learn. She is an enthusiastic teacher who presents musical information in a clear and un-intimidating manner. She especially loves teaching beginners and knows how to create a supportive environment that encourages students at any skill level to learn and grow.
Eve currently teaches private lessons in guitar, songwriting, singing, and performance. And thanks to the miracle of modern technology, Eve's online guitar lessons are now available to students all over the world through JamPlay.com, a popular guitar learning website. Eve is also available for long distance private lessons using Skype.
Not content to spread knowledge one-on-one, Eve often leads workshops and classes for adults. She is one of the organizers of The Woods Music and Dance Camp, a summer folk music retreat in the Muskoka region of Ontario, where she plans programming, hires staff, and leads large and small workshops and classes. She teaches music classes at the Haliburton School of the Arts, Winter Folk Camp, and All Together Now Workshops, as well as offering one-off workshops in conjunction with concert appearances. She currently leads weekly live Q&A webchats on the Jamplay.com website.
Eve is also adept in workshop situations at festivals, whether participating or leading sessions. She can speak to an array of topics and brings a breadth of material that adds that special something to song swaps, hands-on participatory events, jam sessions, or panel discussions.
Eve helped found two arts organizations-- Common Thread Community Chorus of Toronto and ArtsCan Circle, and has served as board member for several others. Her experience in community-based music and her background in the independent music business give her a unique perspective to speak at conferences and community consultations on a number of topics.
