Online Folk Guitar Class

Feb 12 - Apr 23 (6 weeks)

Every Other Friday  from 3 - 4:30 pm (ET) on Zoom

In this online class, we'll explore basic accompaniment styles for folk songs on the guitar. We'll be doing some fingerpicking, and some strumming, and looking at simple techniques that can spice up your playing like bass notes and bass runs, variations on strumming and fingerpicking patterns, and easy instrumental interludes. Each week we'll work on a new song and look at some of the different ways we could approach the song, building our toolbox as we go. This class assumes you have knowledge of basic chords like A, C, D, E, G, and have played guitar a little bit already.

The class will be conducted on Zoom. Once you have paid and registered, you will receive information about how to log in each week, and those who need help accessing the technology will be offered resources and orientation to the platform.

You will be provided with song sheets and other materials for taking the course. You will need to supply your own guitar and be able to tune it to standard tuning.
