Who doesn't like a good country song? From the earliest country stars like Jimmy Rodgers and the Carter Family, through generations of popular singers and songwriters like Hank Williams, Kitty Wells, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, and Dolly Parton, right through to today, country music has always been imbued with beautiful songs that tell stories of ordinary people. In this class we'll explore a sampling of country songs from different eras and learn simple and effective ukulele arrangements that will elevate your playing and give you a range of tools to draw on in making your own music. Songs will be taught with easier and more challenging options to accommodate a wide range of playing experience.This class assumes at a minimum you already know basic chords like C, D, F, G, A, and you can play and sing a few songs already. This class will be taught in C tuning (GCEA).
The class will be conducted on Zoom. Once you have paid and registered, you will receive information about how to log in each week, and those who need help accessing the technology will be offered resources and orientation to the platform.
You will be provided with song sheets and other materials for taking the course. You will need to supply your own ukulele and be able to tune it to standard C tuning.
