“An album of true heart in a time when we need to feel the love – a real touch-the-earth harmony experience.”

— Tom Coxworth, Folk Routes/CKUA

Gathering Sparks - All That's Real

Gathering Sparks' first full-length album “All That’s Real” blends finely crafted songs, transcendent vocals, stellar musicianship on guitar, keyboard, ukulele, and accordion, and compelling stories into a potent balm for troubled times. In times that cry out for love over hate, “All That’s Real” delivers.

Writing together for the first time, band members EVE GOLDBERG & JANE LEWIS combined their love of word play, strong melodies, and harmony singing to create 11 new songs (plus one cover of a Pete Townshend classic) that will take you on a journey from hopeful, to thoughtful, to joyful and back again.

Produced by Jeff Bird (Cowboy Junkies), the album includes guest appearances from Cheryl Prashker (percussion), Anne Lindsay (fiddle), Joel Schwartz (guitar), Kevin Breit (guitar), and a host of harmony singers.

Eve's third album is a remarkable testament to the joy and hope that lurks somewhere beyond the heartache, and the sweetness that can be found even in the bitterest seasons of life. Recorded in the months after her mother’s death, the album fuses Eve’s rootsy eclecticism with an emotional candor that may pleasantly surprise her fans. Twelve original songs firmly establish Eve as a compelling and thoughtful writer whose style encompasses contemporary singer-songwriter, bluegrass, swing, jazz, blues, and hints of r&b, all with Eve’s pure, clear voice, and versatile guitar at the centre. Produced by Ken Whiteley, with guest appearances by George Koller, Victor Bateman, Dave Clarke, Brad Hart, Sweet Water Women, Chris Coole, Marilyn Lerner, Anne Lindsay, Tannis Slimmon, Roman Borys, and Erynn Marshall.

In September 2007 the world saw powerful images of monks and nuns demonstrating in Burma (Myanmar) on the evening news, and reacted with dismay as their peaceful protests were brutally suppressed by the military dictatorship there. Eve wrote the "The Streets of Burma" as a way of bearing witness to what happened. She was honoured when Amnesty International Canada used the song as part of its campaign to free U Gambira, one of the monks who was detained following the protests.
