One of the giants of North American folk music, Woody Guthrie inspired generations with his witty, pointed, and poetic songs. He wrote over 3000 songs, many of which— like “This Land Is Your Land”— have passed into the canon as standards. In this class, we'll learn some classic Woody songs on ukulele, using simple and effective arrangements. There will be easier parts for those with less experience, and more challenging parts for those with more experience. This class assumes at a minimum you already know basic chords like C, D, F, G, A, and you can play and sing a few songs already. The class will be taught in C tuning (GCEA).
Classes will be conducted on Zoom. Once you have paid and registered, you will receive information about how to log in each week.
All classes will be recorded and the video link will be sent to all participants after the class.
You'll be provided with song sheets and other materials for taking the course. You will need to supply your own ukulele and be able to tune it to standard C tuning.
