May 17 - Jun 21 (6 weeks)
In this class we'll explore folk music on ukulele, diving into some traditional music, popular folk revival music of the 60's and 70's, as well as some contemporary singer-songwriters. We'll explore a variety of ways of accompanying folk songs, work on coordinating our playing and singing, and add some fun extras to fill out our arrangements. By the end of the class you will gain more confidence in your playing and singing, and have a toolbox of techniques to use for interpreting and arranging songs. This class assumes at a minimum you already know basic chords like C, D, F, G, A, and you can play and sing a few songs already. This class will be taught in C tuning (GCEA).
The class will be conducted on Zoom. Once you have paid and registered, you will receive information about how to log in each week, and those who need help accessing the technology will be offered resources and orientation to the platform.
You will be provided with song sheets and other materials for taking the course. You will need to supply your own ukulele and be able to tune it to standard C tuning.
